2009 Bull Sale Report

Sinclair Munro opened the sale by saying " We are very proud of the lineup of bulls - and I am sure buyers will be proud of the progeny". He thanked the "Outstanding contribution his family and staff had made in preparation for the sale", He then welcomed "the nice mix of repeat buyers and new faces in the crowd"

169 Bulls were then quickly sold from the 170 offered, averaging $5,500. Prices ranged from $2,500 to a top of $16,000. Most people attending the sale were able to secure bulls as 100 bulls sold for $5,000 or less.

Sinclair Munro said a wide range of bulls sold to Leading Seedstock Producers, Commercial Angus Producers and Cross Breeders. The majority of the bulls sold within a 300 km radius of Bingara. Some bulls sold to as far as Hanaford Qld, King Island Tas, Gundagai and South Australia.

Leading Seedstock Producers attended the sale - including repeat buyer Bruce Scrivener and family from Bonny Brooke Angus who secured the top priced bull – Booroomooka Midland C196. Herb Duddy from Sara Park Angus, Tenterfied was very happy with his purchase of Lot 87 for $15,500 - Booroomooka Bando C415 who is described as an outstanding stylish bull and in the top 1% of the breed for Long Fed, Heavy Grass Fed and short fed $ Indexes.

John Cochrane from Cochrane Angus, Jimboomba, Qld purchased Lot 25 Booroomooka Right Time C260 for $12,000. Another outstanding Right Time son - Booroomooka The Chieftain C177 sold to Leeton Grazing, Barraba for $11,000. New Buyer W Denham, operating with Alex Johnston and Co, Inverell purchased two outstanding bulls for $11,000 and $12,000 each. Return buyer Darrin Marshall from near Coffs Harbour purchased Lot 76 - Booroomooka Right Time C267 for $13,000. Guy and Suz Lord - Branga Plains, Walcha purchased Lot 81 a Net Worth son for $12,000 whilst Tullatulla Pship, Bundarra paid $13,000 for another outstanding Net Worth son Lot 80. Repeat buyers Bill and Margie Doak purchased three bulls - including Lot 126 a Booroomooka Achieve son for $11,000. Whilst the next lot into the ring, another Achieve son sold for $12,000 to Wyagdon Valley Angus, Bathurst. 

Volume buyers included new buyer Tom Fitzgerald from Warren who purchased 18 bulls. Tom said he will be joining his new Angus bulls to primarily a Santa Gertrudis/Shorthorn cross herd. Regular buyers Doug and Wendy Collins, King Angus Beef, King Island - whose commercial Angus herd is regarded as 'One of the best in Australia' and have purchased bulls from Booroomooka every year since 1997- purchased 10 bulls.
