Sinclair Munro opened the sale by saying " We are very proud of the lineup of bulls - and I am sure buyers will be proud of the progeny". He thanked the "Outstanding contribution his family and staff had made in preparation for the sale", He then welcomed "the nice mix of repeat buyers and new faces in the crowd"
169 Bulls were then quickly sold from the 170 offered, averaging $5,500. Prices ranged from $2,500 to a top of $16,000. Most people attending the sale were able to secure bulls as 100 bulls sold for $5,000 or less.
Sinclair Munro said a wide range of bulls sold to Leading Seedstock Producers, Commercial Angus Producers and Cross Breeders. The majority of the bulls sold within a 300 km radius of Bingara. Some bulls sold to as far as Hanaford Qld, King Island Tas, Gundagai and South Australia.
Leading Seedstock Producers attended the sale - including repeat buyer Bruce Scrivener and family from Bonny Brooke Angus who secured the top priced bull – Booroomooka Midland C196. Herb Duddy from Sara Park Angus, Tenterfied was very happy with his purchase of Lot 87 for $15,500 - Booroomooka Bando C415 who is described as an outstanding stylish bull and in the top 1% of the breed for Long Fed, Heavy Grass Fed and short fed $ Indexes.
John Cochrane from Cochrane Angus, Jimboomba, Qld purchased Lot 25 Booroomooka Right Time C260 for $12,000. Another outstanding Right Time son - Booroomooka The Chieftain C177 sold to Leeton Grazing, Barraba for $11,000. New Buyer W Denham, operating with Alex Johnston and Co, Inverell purchased two outstanding bulls for $11,000 and $12,000 each. Return buyer Darrin Marshall from near Coffs Harbour purchased Lot 76 - Booroomooka Right Time C267 for $13,000. Guy and Suz Lord - Branga Plains, Walcha purchased Lot 81 a Net Worth son for $12,000 whilst Tullatulla Pship, Bundarra paid $13,000 for another outstanding Net Worth son Lot 80. Repeat buyers Bill and Margie Doak purchased three bulls - including Lot 126 a Booroomooka Achieve son for $11,000. Whilst the next lot into the ring, another Achieve son sold for $12,000 to Wyagdon Valley Angus, Bathurst.
Volume buyers included new buyer Tom Fitzgerald from Warren who purchased 18 bulls. Tom said he will be joining his new Angus bulls to primarily a Santa Gertrudis/Shorthorn cross herd.
Regular buyers Doug and Wendy Collins, King Angus Beef, King Island - whose commercial Angus herd is regarded as 'One of the best in Australia' and have purchased bulls from Booroomooka every year since 1997- purchased 10 bulls.

Booroomooka bred weaners were awarded best pen of Angus steers at Inverell weaner sale on 16/4/09. Congratulations to Morna and Ian Scott, Willy Willy, Bundarra, pictured with selling Agent Phil Frame. The steers are regularly sold at the Inverell Weaner Sale and purchased by backgrounders growing them out to feeder steer entry weights.

BINGARA ANNUAL RACES
The Annual Bingara Races were held in February 2009. An afternoon of excellent Racing, fashions and fun commenced with the National Anthen sung by Fiona Ozols . The highlight of the racing was an excellent front running display by Glenbarra Boy to win the Booroomooka Angus Stud HR and HG Munro Memorial Bingara Cup. Tingha Horse Art Major trained by astute horse lady Art Major ran second, and the highly fancied Bambu from Garah hit the line strongly for third. Glenbarra Boy was tactically well ridden by lady apprentice Lee Menser and trained by veteran Trainer Merv Corliss from Tamworth. Glenbarra Boy is owned by a group of owners including cattle farmer Neil Latimer who used to race one of the best horses to race in the north west Ackwasoff. Other race day winners included Ben’s Will from Barraba, Kopataroa from Tamworth, Mr Rochester from Toowoomba and Zandaby from Bendemeer. Zandaby was bred by Doug Withers, the senior vice president and Clerk of the Course. Budding racecaller Anthony Manton travelled from Sydney to call his first ever race meeting and did a very good job. Due to the excellent crowd in the magnificent grandstand he had to move his calling position to the photo finish stand. He stated : "The Bingara Race day was a real buzz – and I enjoyed the hospitality and opportunity provided by The Bingara Jockey Club". President Sinclair Munro stated "It was one of the best meetings Bingara has had with great local support and racegoers on track from as far as England, France, Israel, New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane". He said "Race Meetings at Bingara are built on voluntary hard working local people and good local business sponsorship". Organisations such as The Lions Club, SES and Westpac Helicopter Support Group provide vital services to the race day.

The Munro family of Booroomooka Angus Stud celebrated 83 years of Stud breeding by selling a whopping 160 bulls at their annual on property sale on Friday 15th August 2008. Sinclair Munro commented "The sale offering had a wide range of quality bulls to sell - He described the sale as A Great Choice! The Annual Sale includes the Very best of Our Bulls – many seedstock, commercial angus and cross breeders were able to pick from a large number of bulls to meet their needs"
Co Principal Hugh Munro added "The success of the sale was due to his family's long term commitment to breeding quality cattle and the dedication of the employees and Family members in the business"
The Munro family was very proud of the quality offering of the bulls - one repeat buyer who had not visited Booroomooka for the previous three years - said that the Quality of the cattle at Booroomooka continue to improve every time he returns. He stated "It was the best line up of Angus Bulls he has ever seen in Australia".
There was a good mix of return buyers and some new faces in the crowd. Bulls sold to widespread areas from King Island, Keith in South Australia, Geelong in Victoria, up to Clermont and Monto in Queensland. Many local buyers purchased quality bulls – Sinclair said "It is of prime importance that our customers continue to build quality and efficiencies in their herd".
For the second year in a row, the top priced bull had been sired by a Booroomooka bred sire. There were a large number of sons sired by worldwide leading AI sires including Right Time 338, 1407, Future Direction, Bando 9074. The Booroomooka sired bulls were well accepted, with Lot 8 a Booroomooka Undertaken U170 son being the highest priced bull selling for $16,000. Booroomooka Yogi sons sold well, topping at $12,000 and averaging $6278.
Volume buyers included repeat buyers The Archer Family from Inverell who purchased 11 bulls, and first time buyers The Stoner family from Niangala buying 13 bulls. The Collins family returned to Booroomooka for the tenth year in succession and purchased seven bulls. Sinclair Munro says "The Collins family run one of the best Angus Commercial herds I have seen anywhere world wide. It is a credit to their management skills and genetic selection".
Selling Agents were Lehman and Frame, Inverell with guest auctioneers Luke Scicluna and Daniel McCulloch.

Quality at value at the 2007 sale
Buyers purchased high quality bulls at value at this years Booroomooka Annual Bull Sale. 170 Bulls Sold, from 189 offered (90% clearance) at an average of $5191. Seven Bulls sold for $10,000 or more and 101 bulls sold for $5,000 or less.
Booroomooka’s Best Bulls sold to a top of $13,000. Top Priced Bull Lot168, NGMA527 a Booroomooka Westall W391 sold to Bull Oak Well Angus Stud, Lameroo, South Australia. Sinclair Munro described the bull as one of the most exciting bulls he has seen for a long while. The Bull exhibits great athleticism, length, frame, structure and growth with impeccable ebvs. It is nice to see the bull be sold to a keen young stud. His sire Booroomooka Westall W391 is breeding so well for us and the Quilky maternal line is exceptionally strong.
Buyers came from far and wide to buy the High Quality Bulls – as bulls sold up to near the top of Qld down to King Island, TAS and also to South Australia. There was a large number of repeat buyers including volume purchaser of the day RV7 cattle Coy buying 8 bulls, King Angus Beef purchasing 6 Bulls. Bill and Margie Doak purchased two bulls, and said after the sale was keen on the top priced bull but ended up purchasing the following Lot 169, for $9,000 another High quality Westall son.
New Buyers Sam and Annie Brown, from Prairie, Qld purchased 6 Bulls. Sinclair said he "was excited to see the bulls go up to that area", he added "The Booroomooka Breeding Programme is based on producing functional cattle that add fertility and carcase quality to many herds". Another highlight of the sale was the first drop of NGMY120 sons to sell. Lot 155, an outstanding Y120 son sold to Fairvale Angus Stud, ACT. His buyer Sue Howieson is extremely happy with the bull, she said "He is a lovely bull and one of the quietest bulls I have seen".
First time buyer Robert Gill, who operates a successful integrated beef business near Merriwa, purchased Lot 30 a son of Neutron 377 and Booroomooka Wavelet W235 (a full sister to Warwick). He paid $11,000 for the bull, and will use him in the Kamilaroi Angus Stud. He was one of the heaviest bulls in the sale weighing close to 900 kgs, 47 cms scrotal size and frame 7. His flush brother, Lot 29 sold for $12,500 to Bunya Creek Angus, Dalby, Qld. Don and Prue Patch have had previous success purchasing Booroomooka Stud Cows.
The guest auctioneer Luke Scicluna did a great job selling all the Lots and again Eric Crowe was alongside him taking bids. The Sale was professionally conducted by Inverell Stock Agents Lehman and Frame. Ben Lehman said "The success of the sale was a result of the disciplined breeding programme at Booroomooka, and the long term commitment and dedication of the Munro family and all the Staff at Booroomooka".

2007: Booroomooka Angus Stud wins Top Award
Sinclair and Joanna Munro proudly accepted an award won by Booroomooka Angus Stud at the recent Certified Australian Angus Beef Award Dinner held at Sydney Showgrounds.
The quality award was for Best Overall Performance by the progeny of a single sire for CAAB. Sinclair Munro said it was pleasing to see that the progeny of Booroomooka Whithorn W267 performed so well for weight gain, marbling and yield. Booroomooka Whithorn W267 is a son of Future Direction out of Booroomooka Takeda T66. His progeny performance reflected his EBV’s that are in the top 5% of the breed for IMF% (+1.7), above breed average for growth (+76) and in the top 1% of the breed for EMA (+5.5).
Sinclair said that two full ET brothers of W267 will be sold at this years Booroomooka Bull Sale to be held on Friday 10th August. The Photo of the presentation includes The President of Angus Australia – Mr John Young, Joanna and Sinclair Munro representing Booroomooka Angus and Board member of CAAB Mr Ed Blackadder.

2006 Bull sale report
In a record offering of Herd Book Angus Bulls on Friday 18th August 2006, 190 Bulls sold for an average of $5342, a 100% clearance, Grossing just over $1 million dollars.
Co-Principal Sinclair Munro stated "Once Again The Annual Booroomooka Sale proved successful in selling High Quality Bulls at Value. With seedstock, commercial angus breeders and cross breeders buying quality bulls to add value to their herds".
141 registered bidders attended the sale, 10 Bulls sold for $10,000 or more, and 103 Bulls sold in the range of $2,000 to $5,000.
Buyers came from NSW, Qld, SA and King Island. The top priced bull Lot 78, Booroomooka Ultravox Z404 sold for $15,000 to astute Stud Operater Karen Arnott, Skagway Angus. Z404 is an impressive High Growth, easy fleshing, sound Ultravox son from a dams pedigree that includes Traveller 71 and Megaforce. EC Bateman purchased Lot 40, an excellent Bando 9074 son crossed with the famous Lucinda family for $13,000. An impressive ET flush of yearling bulls sired by Yellowstone and out of the famous Regallia cow (mother of the high marbling bull Undertaken) topped at $12,000 selling to Avalon Angus. Booroomooka Westall sons were very popular due to their sire appeal, length and muscle selling to a top of $11,000 to D & W Collins. Volume buyer was Wilmar Park who purchased 15 bulls.
The sale was professionally conducted by selling Agents Lehman and Frame, with guest auctioneer selling the 190 bulls in 3 hours.

Hugh Munro quoted: "Eighty years of breeding showed in the depth and consistency of the sale bulls".
Bulls sold to leading Angus Studs including : The $19,000 top priced bull Lot 51- a son of Bon View New Design 1407- having a $B3 index of $113 sold to Dunoon Angus Stud, Holbrook. Dunoon Angus has had success with a previous purchase from Booroomooka, Undertaken U170. Undertaken U170 is the highest IMF% ebv bull with progeny in Australia. A consortium of Studs purchased Lot 52,Booroomooka Undertaken Y145 for $16,000. A 825 kg, 44cm scrotal, with an IMF% ebV OF +2.9% and with a $B3index of +$108.
Wattletop Angus Stud purchased 2 high quality bulls, Lot 115 a son of Bon View New Design 1407 for $16,000 and Lot 145 a tremendous Booroomooka Theo son for $10,500. Fred Bell from Glenavon Angus Stud put three excellent bulls together, each for $10,000 each, Lots 38, 116 and 144 all sons of Bon View New Design 1407 which all combined excellent phenotype with excellent EBVs. Richard and Jan Baillie from Wyagdon Angus, Bathurst who regularly top weaner sales with progeny of Booroomooka Bulls outlaid $15,500 for Lot 91 an outstanding Yellowstone son.
Commercial producers that have high quality angus herds purchased some terrific bulls including James Harris, Abington Station, Bundarra who purchased Lot 16 for $16,000. Doug and Wendy Collins purchased 7 bulls to be used on a newly acquired property on King Island. Volume buyer from last year Phil Reardon was active again this year buying 6 bulls. Another strong user of Booroomooka genetics Bary Gamer from Brightling Park, Gunnedah purchased 6 bulls.
Volume buyer of the day was the Slade family from Mulguthrie Pastoral Coy who purchased 12 bulls to be used in their successful cross breeding enterprise. The bulls are to be used over Santa and Santa/Angus cross females. Ray Joiner from Sundown Pastoral Coy bought 10 bulls. New Buyers Mike Fahey and family from Copmanhurst purchased 3 bulls to cross over Brahman cows.
The guest auctiooner was Luke Scicluna from Davidson Cameron, Gunnedah who did a great job selling the 169 lots in less than 3 hours.

2004 Bull sale report
Friday 13th August 2004 was a day to be remembered by cattle enthusiasts, being the largest Angus Bull Sale held in NSW. 145 quality herd book registered 2002 drop Booroomooka Angus Bulls sold for a gross value of $806,000, averaging at $5,558.62 selling to buyers from all eastern states.
The top price bull Lot 14, Booroomooka Direction X39 sold to Marchington Angus Stud, Tasmania for $19,000. X39 is a growthy son of a leading Booroomooka donor cow U123. X39 is a full brother of Booroomooka Westall W391 who is part of the elite Trangie Progeny Test. Marchington Angus Stud Manager Roy Freeman said the Launceston Stud bred sires primarily for a large breeding operation focused on producing feeder steers for feedlots. The volume buyer of the day was Mr Phillip Reardon from ‘Talasinga’, Graman, added to the nine bulls he bought last year from Booroomooka with another 12 this year. Mr Reardon was extremely happy with the breeding performance of the bulls he purchased last year. Another buyer who is reaping the rewards in producing high quality angus cattle, Doug, Wendy and Dwaine Collins from Callendale Station, SA invested in 11 sires.
The Collins family will send 6 of the bulls to a recently acquired Angus Breeding Business at King Island. Many repeat buyers reinvested in Booroomooka genetics and new buyers such as Fernside Pastoral Coy, Barraba bid with confidence purchasing 9 bulls at an average of $3708. The Harbison Family from Dunoon Angus Stud, Holbrook purchased Lot 16, X76 for $16,000. X76 will be used in the Stud alongside the highest marbling bull available in Australia Booroomooka Undertaken U170.
An impressive large framed Lot 123, Booroomooka Future X433 sold for $15,500 to Cluden Newry Angus Stud, Tas. Lot 9 an easy doing Booroomooka Theo son sold to Alistair McClymont, Qld for $10,000. Lot 17 X59 sold for $10,500 to Mac and Flora Lee Warner, Aberdeen. Booroomooka Direction X26, who was used in the Booroomooka cow herd last year was sold to Tullatula Pship, Merriwa for $10,500. John Patterson purchased an exceptional son of the classy top priced $20,000 bull from the 2001 sale Booroomooka Uranus U28, Lot 96 X410 for $10,000.
Overall the sale was a fantastic event catering for Angus Commercial Breeding Operations, Seedstock Producers and Cross Breeders. The Munro family’s long term commitment to producing bulls designed to meet customer needs was evident as nine bulls sold for over $10,000 and 53 bulls sold for between $2,000-$4,000. A large number of people complimented on the outstanding genetic profile, excellent feet and the quiet temperament of the sale bulls. Eric Crowe did a great job as the auctioneer and completed the sale of 145 bulls in only 2 3/4 hours. Selling Agents were Lehman and Frame from Inverell.

Booroomooka Angus quality females gross $370,000
The quality and depth of breeding of Booroomooka Angus was well appreciated at the ‘Share the Herd' Female Sale held at Bingara on Friday 4th June 2004. 98 Herd book registered females sold to a top of $6,000, with a 86% clearance rate. The top priced cow was Lot 69 Booroomooka Quassia Q18, a large framed daughter of Megaforce, who has a fabulous breeding record being the grand dam of the top priced $20,000 bull Booroomooka Warwick W245. Quassia Q18 was purchased by Des and Carol Grylls, EJ Angus Stud, Pakenham, Vic in partnership with Daryl Griffin from Adalia Park Angus Stud, Bulla, Vic. ET donor cow Booroomooka Tracy T4 made $5,500 and purchased by Darren Hegarty from Meandarra, Qld. Another beautiful cow Booroomooka Takeda T66 sold to Witherswood Angus Stud for $5,000.
Volume purchaser for the day, who also received a semen package including Booroomooka Undertaken U170 was Bingara landowner Barry Rogers who purchased 33 females. Noble House Angus from Wallabadah purchased 8 females including the high marbling heifer Booroomooka Uncanny Y8. Other buyers of high quality females included Richard and Jan Baillie Wyagdon Angus, Bathurst, Austasia Animal Products from Eugowra and M Groth from Barraba. Twelve embryos sold to average $616, thirty two semen straws sold at an average of $117. 207 commercial females sold to a top of $900 for 13 2002 drop angus heifers ptic purchased by Barry Rodgers, Delungra through H Roy Miller. The average of stud females sold was $2206.
Booromooka Angus
Booroomooka Angus commercial females topped the Inverell Store Sale on 29/1/04. 40 ptic angus cows joined to Booroomooka Herd Book bulls sold to Gunnedah agent, Davidson Cameron Pty Ltd for $1120.
There was keen competition for the high quality cows. Booroomooka Angus will be conducting a female sale, offering 320 head on Friday 4th June 2004.
2003 Bull sale report
On Friday 15th August 2003 the Booroomooka Angus Stud offered the largest single offering of angus bulls in NSW for 2003, at the property Keera, Bingara, NSW. 132 herd book registered bulls were offered, with a 100% clearance, averaging $4,185.61 Grossing $552,500. Top priced bull was Booroomooka Warwick W245 an et son of Hingaia 469 (NZE) out of the lovely Booroomooka Unabell (a New Design 036 daughter and grandaughter of Megaforce).
Rob Costello of Nairn Park Angus stud was the purchaser of the structurally sound, thick growthy Booroomooka Warwick. Good quality bulls were sold at value prices with 74 bulls selling for $3,500 or less. Purchaser of the most bulls was Phil Reardon from Graman, who purchased 9 bulls.
Phil Reardon is developing a high quality angus herd that is targeting the lucrative Japanese B3 market. The majority of bulls were sold to progressive beef producers in northern NSW. Interstate buyers from Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania travelled large distances to buy quality genetics. Many favourable comments were made about the depth and strength of the Booroomooka herd.
Sinclair Munro commented that buyers appreciated the Booroomooka bulls combining good phenotype with good accuracy EBV’s. He said Booroomooka Angus continues to produce predictable genetics that increase profitability in the beef production system. Eric Crowe was the guest auctioneer and the selling agents were Lehman and Frame.
Barry Gamer sold 665 angus weaners, mostly sired by Booroomooka bulls, having a strong reputation for topping sales and "doing a job" for their buyers. The sale took 45 minutes, with 441 10-14 month old steers topping th $670 and averaging $533. While 224 10-12 mth heifers sold to a top of $420 and averaging $364. Congartulations to Barry Gamer and the selling agents Bowe and Lidbury in conjunction with Pollock and Cummins. Buyers included Wesfarmers (Moss Vale), Elders (Gunnedah), Garvin and Cousens (Tamworth) and Moy and Darby (Grafton)
CONGRATULATIONS to Witherswood Angus on selling top priced bull Witherswood Waterloo W93 for $13,500. The dam Booroomooka Sideshow S177 was purchased for $6250 at the 2000 Booroomooka Angus Female sale.
Three flush brothers were sold grossing $26,500.
2002 Bull sale report
The Munro family of Booroomooka Angus Stud held their annual property bull sale at ‘Keera’, Bingara, NSW on Friday 16th August 2002. 113 bulls were offered, 111 sold for an average price of $3,655.
Top price of $15,500 was paid by respected cattle people Darcy and Mary Wilkinson of Messines Angus Stud, Guyra. Booroomooka Valet V027 was purchased for his good doing ability combining thickness, growth and carcase. Volume buyer of the sale was Doug and Wendy Collins of Callendale Station, Lucindale, SA who purchased nine bulls. Doug has had great success using Booroomooka bulls. He and his family run an impressive agricultural business of three main enterprises of commercial angus cattle, a dairy and potato growing.
David and Kym Coulton from Goondiwindi purchased two bulls including the equal second top priced bull Booroomooka Valiant V168. Buyers attended the sale from various parts of NSW, as well as Queensland, Victoria and South Australia which is testament to the nationwide respect that is held for the Booroomooka breeding programme. The sale auctioneer was Eric Crowe and selling agents Lehman and Frame, Inverell. The Munro family were pleased with the sale under drought conditions, and happy to see repeat buyers and new buyers able to buy quality bulls at good value prices.
