2002 Bull sale report

The Munro family of Booroomooka Angus Stud held their annual property bull sale at ‘Keera’, Bingara, NSW on Friday 16th August 2002. 113 bulls were offered, 111 sold for an average price of $3,655.

Top price of $15,500 was paid by respected cattle people Darcy and Mary Wilkinson of Messines Angus Stud, Guyra. Booroomooka Valet V027 was purchased for his good doing ability combining thickness, growth and carcase. Volume buyer of the sale was Doug and Wendy Collins of Callendale Station, Lucindale, SA who purchased nine bulls. Doug has had great success using Booroomooka bulls. He and his family run an impressive agricultural business of three main enterprises of commercial angus cattle, a dairy and potato growing.

David and Kym Coulton from Goondiwindi purchased two bulls including the equal second top priced bull Booroomooka Valiant V168. Buyers attended the sale from various parts of NSW, as well as Queensland, Victoria and South Australia which is testament to the nationwide respect that is held for the Booroomooka breeding programme. The sale auctioneer was Eric Crowe and selling agents Lehman and Frame, Inverell. The Munro family were pleased with the sale under drought conditions, and happy to see repeat buyers and new buyers able to buy quality bulls at good value prices.
